In the US, the Triple Crown is the most well known race that consists of three races: the Kentucky Derby, the Belmont Stakes and the Preakness Stakes. In the UK there are two types of racing: National Hunt and flat racing. The Royal Ascot Festival is the most popular race and has been running since 1711. The Epsom Derby is another well known race which is the second part of the British Triple Crown. Australia’s has the Melbourne Cup which takes place on the first Tuesday of November, annually since 1861.
